## About SendWP

### What does SendWP do?

It makes sure the emails your WordPress site sends actually arrive. The SendWP plugin routes your site's email to SendWP, and we send it from your own authenticated domain, flag bounces and spam complaints, and keep a log of every email so you can see what happened to it.

### Is SendWP free?

The plugin is free to install, but SendWP is a paid service: the plugin connects your site to it, so it has nothing to do on its own. Plans start at $9 a month, and your first month on a monthly plan is $1. See [pricing](/pricing).

### Do I need an SMTP plugin or another email service too?

No. SendWP is the email service. There are no SMTP settings to fill in. If you already have an SMTP or mailer plugin, deactivate it once SendWP is connected, so the two don't compete for your email.

### Is it priced per site?

Yes. Each site you connect has its own subscription, with its own log, overview and domain authentication.

### How do I get help?

Email [support@sendwp.com](mailto:support@sendwp.com), use our [support form](/support) or open **Support** in your SendWP dashboard. The SendWP team will write back.

## Your plugins

### Which plugins does SendWP work with?

Any plugin that sends email through WordPress, which is almost all of them: WooCommerce, form plugins, membership and course plugins, and WordPress itself for password resets and new-user emails. GiveWP, Ninja Forms and LifterLMS can even install and connect SendWP for you. See [Integrations](/integrations).

### Will SendWP change how my emails look?

No. Your emails go out with the content, design and attachments your plugins give them.

### What about a plugin that sends email its own way?

A plugin that connects to its own email service, instead of sending through WordPress, bypasses SendWP. That's rare, and the plugin's settings will say so.

## Setting up

### How do I get started?

Install the SendWP plugin, go to **Tools → SendWP** and click **Connect to SendWP**. [Getting started](/docs/getting-started) walks through every step.

### Do I have to change my DNS?

Your email goes through SendWP as soon as you connect. Adding the DNS records we give you is what proves the email is really from you, and it's the best thing you can do for reaching the inbox, so we strongly recommend it. See [Authenticating your domain](/docs/authenticating-your-domain).

### How long do DNS changes take?

Anywhere from a few minutes to several hours. Once you've added them, click **Recheck DNS** on your **Deliverability** page, and check again later if a record still shows **Needs Setup**.

## When something goes wrong

### What happens to emails that bounce?

They show as **Bounced** in your log, with the reason. Spam complaints are flagged on the email too. To stop sending to an address or a whole domain, add it to your block list. See [Why an email failed](/docs/why-an-email-failed).

### Does “Sent” mean the email reached the inbox?

It means SendWP sent the email out; if the receiving server turns it away, it shows as **Bounced** instead. No sender can see which folder an email lands in, but an authenticated domain gives your email the best chance of reaching the inbox.

### Where can I see what was sent?

In your SendWP dashboard, open your site and go to **Emails**. Every email is there with its status and timeline. See [Reading your email log](/docs/reading-your-email-log).

## Your account

### How do I pause SendWP?

Turn off the switch on **Tools → SendWP**. Your site goes back to sending email the way it did before until you turn it on again.

### Can I cancel?

Yes, from **Billing** for your site in your SendWP dashboard. Your site keeps sending through SendWP until the end of the period you've already paid for.

### Do you offer a nonprofit discount?

We do. Registered nonprofits pay $6 a month or $72 a year per site. [Apply here](/nonprofit-discount).
